We thought it would be easy to put together a list of Christmas Number Ones. Surprisingly not many of them are that Christmasy or Christmas related.
Anyway we have put to together our Top 5 Christmas Number Ones.

5. Cliff Richard – Mistletoe & Wine

Yes we know. Sir Cliff in the top 5. We did say that there were not that many Christmas related number ones. According to Channel 5 though this is the 8th biggest selling Christmas song in the UK of all time. Anyway enjoy.

4. Shakin’ Stevens – Merry Christmas Everyone


Shakin’ ranks 14th on the all time list with one of those Christmas songs you just can not get out of your head. Originally released in 1985 and has been in the UK Charts every year since 2007.

3. Frankie Goes To Hollywood – The Power of Love

Not necessarily a Christmas song along the lines of Shakin’ Stevens or Slade, there is no doubting that the video is as Christmas as you can get. The Nativity. At the time of its release it was the fastest selling Christmas song of all time until Band Aid, ironically released in the same year.

2. Band Aid – Do They Know It’s Christmas

Not just the fastest selling Christmas song of all time, it has out sold the next song by nearly 2 million copies. Just amazing and it was all for charity. Argubly Midge Ure’s and Bob Geldof’s most famous achievement.

1. Slade – Merry Xmas Everybody

When picking a Christmas Number One of all the number ones is subjective, but when it comes to Slade’s, Merry Xmas Everybody it just perfectly sums up Christmas and is one of those songs that is just great at any moment over Christmas, whether merry or not.
